The 2022 European Pain School will be held near Siena (Tuscany) in the marvelous Certosa di Pontignano; the application period is extended until the end of February. I am tasked to devise the program and, I believe, we have gathered a very attractive faculty around the topics "Pain, Inflammation and the Guts." In addition to the lectures and discussions, we are offering ‘Pain Labs’ with psychophysiological experiments and participation of the lab and clinic supply companies Ugo Basile and Medoc. "Duettos," "Pain Quiz," and "Debates" (of scholar groups) will foster the interaction between learners and teachers, and each scholar will present her/his research in a short talk.

The European Pain School (EPS), founded at the University of Siena (Italy) in 2002, is the first and still the premier school intended for students working on basic science and clinical topics related to acute and chronic pain. EPS has an interdisciplinary perspective and a distinct research orientation. Young scientists at the PhD or postdoctoral levels (or equivalent) in all fields of pain science and pain medicine are encouraged to apply.
