RESOURCES

The mission of the IASP is “IASP brings together scientists, clinicians, health-care providers, and policymakers to stimulate and support the study of pain and to translate that knowledge into improved pain relief worldwide.” The Korean Pain Research Society, as the Korean branch of the IASP, is also a central society that encompasses all basic academic fields and clinical fields related to pain to conduct research, exchange, and cooperation in order to achieve the multidisciplinary approach to pain treatment and research that the IASP aims for. However, the reality is that the disadvantage of having less interest in the area of interest called pain medicine than the advantage of being the only society comprised of several clinical departments including basic academic fields is greater than the disadvantage of having less interest in the area of interest called pain medicine compared to each of the main societies.
