The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery wishes to recruit a full-time Assistant Professional Researcher in the Levine Research Laboratory to support the Hyaluronan signaling to nociceptors in inflammatory pain project. The successful candidate will conduct scientific research in the areas of hyaluronan (HA) with different molecular weights on nociceptors and in vitro patch clamp electrophysiological studies to study HA on nociceptor excitability.
Qualifications:
This is a specialty occupation requiring at least a PhD (or equivalent degree) in Biological Sciences and the theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge in Biophysics.The candidate should also demonstrate significant research experience in patch clamp electrophysiology of calcium channels, intracellular calcium signaling, fluorescent calcium imaging (with Fura-2), preparation of isolated DRG neurons and dorsal hippocampal slices, doing behavioral tests on pain sensitivity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of post-doctoral fellowship.
- Track record of independent research.
- The candidate must be able to work effectively in an intense collaborative academic research environment.
- Experience managing Institutional Animal Care and Use protocols for a large research group.
- Excellent track record of writing and publishing scientific articles.
- Proven ability in grant funding.
