50th Ann Fallback

The laboratory of Dr. Zachary Campbell is seeking candidates for postdoctoral training who are interested in fundamental neurobiological mechanisms of pain. These are questions we are actively pursuing:

  • How do painful cues and/or analgesics alter protein abundance through transcriptional and translational mechanisms?
  • What are the molecular mechanisms that drive persistent pain?
  • What regulatory factors and downstream targets should we engage to diminish pain?

We make use of rodent models and human stem cell sensory neurons to probe these questions. Recognizing that a major goal of postdoctoral training is education, we seek candidates with familiarity with some but not all of the following approaches: cellular neurobiology, confocal imaging (ICC/IHC), high-throughput sequencing (bulk or single cell), cell culture, immunoblot assays, cloning, neuronal physiology, and/or behavioral neuropharmacology.

Candidates should have the following:

  • PhD in neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, pharmacology, or a related field
  • A track record of productivity as evidence by number and quality of publications
  • Creative thinking skills and excellence in independent problem solving
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the group
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in the English language
  • Innate source of curiosity and ability to assimilate concepts from the literature
  • Enthusiasm to learn new methods and test new hypotheses

To apply send a copy of your CV with a brief (1 paragraph statement) of past research experiences and contact information for three references to Dr. Zachary Campbell zcampbell@wisc.edu.
