IASP’s New Executive Director Is Matthew R. D’Uva
Jun 29, 2015
IASP President Rolf-Detlef Treede has announced that a search committee established by the IASP Council has unanimously agreed to appoint Matthew R. D'Uva, CAE, as IASP’s next Executive Director.
D’Uva comes to IASP from SOCAP International (the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals), for which he served as chief executive for the last nine years. Under D'Uva's leadership, SOCAP increased revenues, raised attendance at national meetings, grew membership, and elevated member engagement and chapter development. He will begin work at IASP on July 13.
"Matthew was the best person to lead the IASP office into the future," said Treede, "and we are delighted we could recruit him."
He continued: "Many things impress me about Matthew. To name just a few: He can motivate people; he is interested in societal impact and global activities; he is an expert in association management and has experience with a similar size association; and he has an excellent track record in working with staff and volunteer boards."
D'Uva has nearly 20 years of experience in association management, and his achievements have been recognized by his peers and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), a national organization that offers model policies and practices for associations and their leaders. He has served on both the ASAE and ASAE Foundation boards of directors and was named an ASAE Fellow, an honor given to less than 1 percent of ASAE's membership. Currently, he serves as chair of the ASAE Public Policy Committee.
